...what? again? :-)
My best wishes to all of you for a good 2009.
The Year of the Ox. Prosperity through fortitude and hard work. Which means my 401(k) better get a move on.
What did I do with with the gift of 2008? Let's see: I traveled to Lisbon, Longboat Key and Rome. I switched companies and jobs, moving from a cosmopolitan center to a much, much smaller town. I bought a second house in a smaller town, within several blocks of a somewhat dicey area. Okay. it IS a dicey area, but I digress.
I became an American citizen, volunteered for my Congresswoman, celebrated another birthday, found myself in the hospital and, later in the year, was tickled pink to find myself featured as a chapter in a school textbook. I reconnected with a number of people from decades ago and found that using Facebook was, in fact, a lot of fun. I didn't get to roller skate or sail, as I had planned - but it was balanced by a few other, important, things like my citizenship.
What's in store for 2009? I'm wary of resolutions, so here's a tentative look ahead. (Semantics. Love it)
Apart from finding a way to deal with two homes, I want to travel. If I can , I want to go to India and/or South Africa. I'd like to have my father visit and I think I might have another go at the Breast Cancer 3-Day. Most of all, I want to make this a safe, healthy, year and awoke on January 1st to a simple prayer:
Asathoma Sath Gamaya
Tamasoma JyothirGamaya
MrithyormaAmrithamGamaya
Om, Shanti, Shanti, Shantihi
From Untruth, lead me to the Truth
From Darkness, lead me to Light
From Death, lead me to Immortality.
Peace, Peace, Peace (on all)
