...at Antietam. This was a bridge Union Soldiers struggled to take late in the day. Led by Gen. Burnside (he of the sideburns...) they kept getting turned back by well- entrenched Confederate soldiers, who were dug in and had the advantage of elevation. Eventually, the bridge fell, but at a heavy price.
